2013 Australian National Champs Recap.

Well it was time to make the drive from Brisbane to Canberra for the 2013 Australian National Champs.
With not having raced any national events this season due to injury, it was still a must to be at champs. It is always a blast attending races down south and especially champs as its good to catch up with everyone from down south and the scene is massive so it creates a good vibe.

Friday Practice - The Roost Mag
Friday - Lachlan Mckillop, Chris Barlin and Myself headed to Trek Aus Hq for a meet and greet. Was definitely the high light of the trip heading in and talking to the guys about the product we ride and about whats coming up for all of us. There is a personal as well as professional relationship with the guys at Trek Aus and its certainly a bonus.

After this it was back track side to punch runs with the Lachlan and Chris and start dialling lines.
The Trek Session 99 Dialled in.
Roger from Palm Beach cycles on hand.

Fridays practice was going well even with the wind been at a all time high and making it difficult to hit some of the kickers.

Track Pics

Saturdays seeding was going well. Smashing the top sections of the track I knew was on pace till hitting the bottom kickers and rolling a B line after been kicked off line then coming into the pedal sprint with a red flag on me as a rider was down so I just shut it off and rolled into 18th but still saving my self for sunday.

Sundays finals time and the sky opened up and it just rained and rained. This kept the wind down and the track was still in such good shape.
Dropping in for finals and from the the first left hander of the track I started making just crucial little foot dabs and then not been able to clip in and focusing on this instead of whats ahead. With a top section run that was extremely disappointing I put it in and nailed the bottom section of the track and dug deep for the monster pedal and put it in crossing the line in 28th.
With such a high world class field on such a short track were it all comes down to hundredths of a second, you have to be at the top of game and come finals time I was far from it.

Sundays Practice - The Roost Mag

So pumped for Tracey and Mic Hannah killing it to take the wins for Elite female and Elite Male. So good to see Trace back on the bike and its still early. Also Remy Morton, smashing it to 3rd in the u17s , such a killer result for all the NSD riders.

A massive thanks must go to Trek Bikes Aus, Palm Beach cycles, Nsdynamics, GamutUsa, Shimano, Bontrager and Lachlan and Chris from Park Bikes Sydney.
